With the passing of the China Olympic and the mid-autumn festival celebration where families and friends gathered, China’s National Day celebration will begin on Oct. 1. Last year, over 120 million Chinese traveled throughout the China and overseas. Hong Kong Tourism Board predicts that there will be more tourists at the upcoming Golden Week than ever before.
Seeing the period of national celebration as an opportunity to spread the gospel, some believers in Macau plan to pass out Bibles. According to Macau Times, they are recruiting volunteers to pass out Bibles on Oct. 1 from 9 am to 1 pm in front of the Ruins of St. Paul. Moreover, China Tourist Ministry in Hong Kong will partner with the local churches and ministries to get in contact with the mainland tourists, pass out gospel gifts, perform dance and musical, and preach the gospel at the most popular tourist attraction sites. Some of these places include Golden Bauhinia Square in Wanchai, Avenue of the Starts in Tsim Sha Tsiu, Sai Yeung Choi South Street in Mong Kok, etc,.
With the churches and ministries working together, over 33,000 people had an opportunity to hear the gospel and 103 people converted to Christianity.
With a higher goal, China Tourist Ministry seeks to reach more people this time for Jesus Christ. By partnering with the local churches, they hope to turn the two annual Golden Weeks in China into Gospel Golden Weeks, where the tourists in Hong Kong can experience a life-changing trip.
