In recent weeks, Google has rolled out two versions of its Android 4.4 KitKat software -- the Android 4.4.3 KitKat and the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. These updates are the last of the popular Android 4.4 KitKat versions, which will be replaced by the upcoming Android L software.

This report is Part Two of a special guide regarding the latest Android 4.4 KitKat releases. To read Part One, click on this link.

For this article, we will focus on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat rollout.

Google Nexus Devices

As the originator of the Android software, Google has prioritized releasing the newer Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS for the majority of its mobile devices.

Devices that have gotten the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update include the Nexus 5, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012), Nexus 10, and Nexus 7 Wi-Fi. Curiously, the Nexus 7 LTE was not included in the Android 4.4.4 KitKat rollout -- receiving the older Android 4.4.3 KitKat instead.

Motorola Moto X, Moto G, Moto E

Motorola is planning to bring the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update to the Moto G, Moto X, Moto E, and Droid series.

However, Verizon is the only service provider so far that has begun rolling out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Motorola Moto G, Moto X, and Droid lineup.

Sony Xperia Z1, and Sony Xperia Z2

Sony has promised an Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update for Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact back in late June. This week, the manufacturer partially delivered on its promise when Canadian Xperia Z1 users started receiving their Android 4.4.4 KitKat update.

The Sony rollout has not reached the United States at this time. Also, the Xperia Z2 is still awaiting the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update.

Samsung vs. LG

Both South Korean manufacturers have generally remained silent over their plans for the Android 4.4.4 and the Android 4.4.3 KitKat.

LG is still using the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS on its flagships that include the G, G2, and G3 mobile devices. Just like its Samsung rival, the manufacturer has not shown interests in any of the newer Android software so far.

Samsung has reportedly been developing the Android 4.4.3 KitKat for its Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S4 devices, but as of late July neither one of its flagships have been updated.

HTC One M8, HTC One M7

HTC is the only manufacturer to favor the Android 4.4.3 KitKat over the Android 4.4.4 KitKat. As a consequence, the Taiwanese manufacturer has no plans to roll out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for either the One M8 or One M7.
