The Blacklist Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers, Plot: Liz to Make Daring Escape?

By Komfie Manalo

One of the biggest Season 3 spoilers of NBC's The Blacklist before its official release date on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. EST, are two pictures posted by show creator Jon Brokenkapm on Twitter showing him and Elizabeth Keen (Megan Boone) and Raymond Reddington (James Spader) who were both disguised as police officers.

The pictures quickly ignited rumors that the disguise was needed to help Elizabeth escape with the help of Red. Remember in the season two finale of The Blacklist, Liz was framed for murder by the Cabal only to actually kill somebody when she shot Tom Connolly (Reed Birney), earning her a spot on the FBI's Most Wanted list.

The final episode also gave viewers a shocking revelation as it showed a flashback scene of Liz's childhood. It saw Liz shooting and killing her own father on the night of the fire when she was still a small child.

The last scenes of The Blacklist Season 2 saw Liz and Reddington fleeing together and driving drove off and Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) being removed from his position and replaced by Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff)

Boon told Zap2It in an interview, "Liz Keen is no longer working within the law. If you break open the entire task force, then it will be challenging to try to find the procedural aspect of the show again. With 22 episodes a year, it does benefit the show to have some kind of a formula ... But we are going to sort of break open a lot of the structure of the show."

A new character is going to be introduced in the premiere episode of The Blacklist, said Fashion & Style. Edi Gathegi ("Proof," "X-Men: First Class") will have a recurring role playing as Mr. Solomon, who heads Cabal's dirty works. Mr. Solomon's character is described as "a monster in gentleman's clothing" with his unassuming and soft-spoken outward nature but deep inside, he has a terrifying capacity for violence lurking beneath the surface.

Bokenkamp commented on the casing of Gathegi, "We've cast Edi Gathegi for that role. He was in Twilight, Justified, a show called Proof. He's just so charismatic."

Executive producer John Eisendrath told TV Guide that Mr. Solomon will catch Liz and Red unaware which will force Red compromising both of their safety. He added that someone close to Red will be put in "a very vulnerable position," and Liz's friend will have no choice but to do whatever Mr. Solomon wants.

"There's a character named Mr. Solomon who is going to be entering the landscape and is not friendly in any way to Liz or Red or the people they care about," Eisendrath said.

But Bokenkamp added that Liz will not be "completely helpless" in the new brand new season of The Blacklist against the new villain. The next season will provide viewers with glimpses of Liz's past that will allow her to survive.

"We are going to see glimpses of a criminal past that we've hinted at before. We're going to see whispers of her past and how that sort of thinking may be useful in some of these desperate situations," he Bokenkamp added.

The Blacklist Season 3 premiere is entitled, "The Troll Farmer." Here is the synopsis of the first episode: "A desk-bound CIA analyst volunteers to go undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer and prevent diabolical global disaster."
