Sony is expected to unveil its next-generation flagship, the Sony Xperia Z5, next month. Now, it appears that the Japanese device maker could also be working on a bigger version of the handset boasting some extremely high-end specifications.

According to a new report by the Sony-focused XperiaBlog.net, the consumer electronics company may be preparing to launch a larger variant of the Z5 called "Sony Xperia Z5 Plus." The site posted a user agent profile (UAP) of the device suggesting that it will be equipped with an eye-blistering 4K display.

The Xperia Z5 Plus, which is also rumored to be branded as Xperia Z5 Ultra, is revealed in the leaked UAP under the Sony E68XX group of devices. Apart from the display resolution, the one important thing that the UAP did not mention is the screen size.

GSM Arena noted that the Xperia Z5 Plus was previously speculated to come with a 5.5-inch screen. Even with a display that large, a 4K resolution will still result to an insanely sharp 801ppi pixel density.

To those unfamiliar with screen resolutions, a 4K display packs 3,840 by 2,160 pixel-the same amount found in UHD TVs, more than double the pixel count of a QHD display, and four times more pixels found on a standard 1080p HD screen.

Another interesting detail from the leak claims that handset will be powered by a certain "MSM8994" chipset. That component is known to be Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 810 processor, the same chipset said to power the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact.

This information is different from earlier reports which indicated that the Xperia Z5 Plus would come furnished with the next-gen Snapdragon 820 chipset. Given that Sony had received several overheating complaints regarding the Snapdragon 810 inside the Xperia Z3+, it seems strange that the company will still integrate the same component into their upcoming devices.

Apart from the aforementioned specs, no other details can be found on the leaked UAP. Since the Xperia Z5 and its Compact variant are both rumored to sport fingerprint scanners, we can safely assume that the Xperia Z5 Plus will also feature said biometric sensor.

Sony has not shared anything official about the Z5 Plus, let alone a release date. However, the company will hold a big press event during the IFA 2015 expo in Germany next month. That event is widely seen as the venue where Sony will unveil its net devices so hopefully we'll see the Xperia Z5 Plus being announced by then.
