When it comes to the newest release of Android, version 6.0, also known as Marshmallow or Android M, it has been out for almost four months.  After its initial and immediate rollout on Google's own Nexus devices, Marshmallow is currently available on a few phones from some manufacturers, but its pouring out has been as slow as...Marshmallow.  This is the latest news on the Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for the HTC One M9 and One M8 on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular.

For those that are HTC One M8 owners, there is good news.  According to the Lawyer Herald, T-Mobile is on the verge of delivering the official over the air (OTA) update release of Android 6.0 in Germany.  A recent tweet at HTC UK has promised that "we began rolling the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to the One M8" as well as "it'll be coming to the One M9 soon, too". This tweet happened on January 19th, so UK HTC One M8 users should have been enjoying their upgrade now, and there are reports that it worked in the UK and Canada.  As for Germany, the company has since switched their target date to January 25th, but now there are speculations saying that it will probably be happening just sometime this week.

So, does this mean that HTC is bringing some Marshmallow goodness to its One M8 and M9 users in the United States?  It would appear that way, but there is no specific release date as yet.  It is odd that it should come to the M8 first, as normally the newest flagship, which would be the M9 in the case of HTC, is first in line.

Other devices are supposed to receive their upgrade as well, including HTC One M9+, HTC One E9+, HTC One M8, HTC One E9, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8 Eye, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820, and HTC Desire 816.

So far, HTC has made promises of target dates of 90 days after the initial rollout, and it looks like they are a bit late.  Hopefully, HTC will be about to get Android M out to all its users by early February.

Why that time?  Reports are saying that Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016, an annual event held in Barcelona, Spain, will serve as the stage where HTC will announce their next smartphone, the HTC One M10.  This is assuming that HTC will follow the naming conventions of their predecessors, but it looks like the next HTC smartphone will have Marshmallow right out of the box.  MWC 2016 will take place on February 22-25, but new smartphones are expected to be unveiled before it, as Samsung is expected to announce their S7 and LG is expected to bring out their newest smartphone, the G5, as well.
