The launching of Sony's Xperia Z6 is nearing and it is reportedly going neck-to-neck with tech market's most powerful devices like Samsung Galaxy S7. Can Sony Xperia Z6 outlast its rivals? Let's find out. Here is the latest round-up of news about Sony Xperia Z6 release date, price and specification.

Most of the online reports claim Sony will launch the Xperia Z6 on Barcelona's Mobile World Congress (MWC), which will happen on Feb. 22. The speculation about the device's release date intensified when Sony announced that it would conduct a press conference during the MWC event. Several Xperia fans believed the company might launch the newest smartphone on the said event.

It is also worth noting that Sony traditionally releases two flagship devices every year. The Japanese tech company unveiled Sony Xperia Z5 last year, particularly during Europe's IFA September event. Now, rumors said the company would use the MWC event this month to present the Sony Xperia Z6.

As for the rumored design of the new Xperia phone, supply chain sources said Sony might change the blocky look of the phone and replace it with a metallic surface and curvier shape. Moreover, the new smartphone might come in different colors and slim frame.

The processing capabilities of the phone will be powered with Qualcomm's latest chipset, the SnapDragon 820. This comes as good news for Sony fans because the new gadget will be upgraded from the current SnapDragon 810. Also, the processor will be coupled with a 3-4 GB of RAM, and it will also have an expandable storage, thanks to the built-in Micro-SD card slot.

A trusted source from PC Advisor said the next-generation Xperia phone would also have longer battery life and fast-charging port. Sony is known for releasing devices that have long lasting battery, but the company will improve that feature with reversible USB Type-C for faster and wireless charging.

Google's latest firmware is the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and according to rumors, this will bring a host of new features for the Xperia Z6. The latest operating system offers numerous apps like Now on Tap, and the battery-friendly Doze.

The price of Sony's Xperia Z6 might come around £500. Market analysts said the company might opt for this price range to match the cost of Z5 phones.
