HTC is one of those companies that is in the Android game, and it will be getting its upgrade to Android N (also known as Version 7.0 and Nougat).  Of course, there are a lot of Android devices, including those from HTC, which still have not been upgraded to Android 6.0 (also known as Marshmallow or Android M).  This includes HTC, and here is the latest news about Android M 6.0 Marshmallow and Android N 7.0 Nougat Release Date for HTC One 10, M9, One M8, and HTC Desire Series on Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon, US Cellular, and AT&T.

It is good that the company has just released the HTC 10, which is a device that is on par with the Samsung S7.  In fact, below is a video advertising how capable the HTC 10 is as far as video is concerned.  The HTC 10 has Marshmallow right out of the packaging, which is one of three flagship phones that the company has covered.

In fact, HTC has this guarantee for their phones that are less than two years old.  Anything older than that won't get the upgrade, but the HTC One M9 and the HTC One M8, the flagships from one year ago and two years ago, are covered with Marshmallow upgrade.  So, if you have the HTC One M7, you are pretty much out of luck when it comes to getting the upgrade.

Now, those particular HTC devices are the flagships, but the real news that isn't really happening is any word on when the upgrade is coming for the non-flagships.  This includes these models:

  • HTC One M9+
  • HTC One ME
  • HTC One E8
  • HTC Butterfly 3
  • HTC Desire 826
  • HTC Desire 820
  • HTC Desire 816
  • HTC Desire Eye
  • HTC One M8 Eye
  • HTC One M8s

It is possible that the upgrade could be available on your newer HTC device already, but one carrier for the same phone and yet not on another, which has become a pattern for Android upgrade rollouts.  If you have a recent HTC device, you might already have access to Marshmallow already, especially if you have a flagship.  Just go to "Settings" and "System Update" to see if you can download the Over the Air (OTA) upgrade now.

As for when the release date for Android Nougat is coming, there is some news on that as University Herald reports that the Android Nougat update will be coming to the HTC 10, HTC One M9, and the HTC One A9.  Considering that HTC guarantees that their flagships from two years ago will receive the upgrade, it is not likely that the HTC One M8 will receive the Nougat upgrade.
