NFL Rumors: New England Patriots Agree To Johnny Manziel Deal As Cheap Tom Brady Sub; Jimmy Garoppolo, Rob Gronkowski Approve

The New England Patriots were sidetracked in the past NFL season as the football squad battled Roger Goodell to disprove the accusations in the controversial Deflategate scandal. As Tom Brady proved his critics wrong, showing that he is the better quarterback compared with Andrew Luck of the Indianapolis Colts, the Rob Gronkowski team suffered from the fear that their leader might be taken away at any moment. Hence, the New England Patriots front office is said to have decided to look into a Johnny Manziel contract to bring in a promising quarterback to work as a Tom Brady backup.

The suspension of Tom Brady hangs above the New England Patriots like a dark cloud and it looks like the Jimmy Garoppolo squad is done being scared of the consequences. As the training camp sessions heat up, the former Super Bowl champions are gearing up to cover all the bases in their roster. That is, the New England Patriots are sealing deals to make sure that the absence of Tom Brady in the upcoming NFL season will not cost them their next Super Bowl run.

"Tom Brady's just about done," shared Max Kellerman of the New England Patriots quarterback. The sports analyst added, "It could be his next game, it could be a year from now, but he is going to fall off a cliff. Tom Brady is going to be a bum in short order."

Kellerman further noted, "Willie Mays and Muhammad Ali fell off at a certain point. You think Tom Brady can't?" He went on to point out, "Three quarterbacks in the history of 40 have passed for over 3,000 yards (not a very high standard, especially nowadays) in the history of the game. He's 39. So will it be this year? Not necessarily. I can see Brady if he gets through the year without an injury putting up big numbers. But then it'll be next [year]. He'll be terrible by the middle of next season."

This is where Johnny Manziel comes in. Given his reputation in the NFL, the career of Johnny Football seems to be coming to an end anytime soon. However, the Heisman Trophy winner remains one of the most promising quarterbacks in the league. Despite the issues that plagued him last season, which included a domestic violence case that pushed him out of the Cleveland Browns roster, Johnny Manziel is still regarded as a talented football star.

Moreover, offering a Johnny Manziel comeback to the fallen quarterback can give the New England Patriots the advantage. At this point, no other NFL team seems to have expressed interest in signing Johnny Football. While no official confirmation has been given by any of the parties involved, rumors are rife that a cheap contract with the former Cleveland Browns star could be what the New England Patriots need to get over the issue of the Tom Brady suspension.
