NBA Rumors: San Antonio Spurs Eye Ben McLemore Trade; Kawhi Leonard, LaMarcus Aldridge Train Ex Kings Star

The San Antonio Spurs are slowly easing the transition to a new era, which features the new big three in Kawhi Leonard, Danny Green and LaMarcus Aldridge, following the Tim Duncan retirement news this NBA offseason and the anticipated exit of both Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili soon. With the Golden State Warriors winning the Kevin Durant free agency and Russell Westbrook potentially reaching his peak with the Oklahoma City Thunder next season, the Pau Gasol team foresees their struggle in the Western Conference. Hence, it comes as no surprise that a Ben McLemore trade is in the works.

The Sacramento Kings appear to be in the process of figuring out who to keep on their current roster. Despite the remarkable talent last NBA season, which included Rajon Rondo and Rudy Gay, the DeMarcus Cousins team still failed to translate their skill and passion on the hardwood court. With free agents, such as the Golden State Warriors leader Stephen Curry, available in 2017 free agency, NBA teams are freeing up their salary space to offer lucrative deals to these superstars. The list of basketball squads gunning to sign a Stephen Curry free agency contract is the Sacramento Kings.

To be able to afford this, the Sacramento Kings will need to release some of its NBA stars. While a Rudy Gay trade is likely going to take some time and a DeMarcus Cousins contract extension is a target, this leaves the team with players who might no longer fit the future plans. Rumors are rife that one the basketball stars in the trading block of the Sacramento Kings is Ben McLemore.

"The Kings are unlikely to agree to an extension with Ben McLemore," revealed Rotoworld. The report added, "The deadline is Oct. 31, but it's not a secret that McLemore has been on the trade block for more than the past year. The Kings signed Arron Afflalo to be their starting shooting guard and drafted Malachi Richardson, so a move away from Sacramento would probably be the best thing for McLemore. If the Kings are able to move him, don't expect them to get much in return."

At the moment, a Ben McLemore trade to the San Antonio Spurs is yet to be confirmed by the parties concerned. The latest updates related to the Sacramento Kings include the Team USA involvement of DeMarcus Cousins, where the big man is impressing basketball fans in the Rio Olympics 2016.
