NFL Rumors: Philadelphia Eagles Offer Geno Smith Max Contract; Carson Wentz, Sam Bradford Rejected As Starters

The Philadelphia Eagles are on the verge of possibly another disappointing NFL season as Sam Bradford continues to fail to impress fans while Carson Wentz is still untrained in the ways of professional football. Hence, a Geno Smith contract might just be in the works to bring in a starter who can lead the team soon. Will the New York Jets star have a fresh start with the Philadelphia Eagles this season?

The Ryan Fitzpatrick drama initially placed Geno Smith in the spotlight as some fans initially thought the latter would eventually be named the starter of the New York Jets. However, the preseason games saw the NFL team welcome their lead quarterback in the roster. This meant that Geno Smith slid back down as a second stringer. Hence, it comes as no surprise that other NFL teams in dire need of a pro quarterback are knocking at the door of Geno Smith.

One of the most aggressive NFL teams reportedly on the lookout for a Geno Smith trade are the Philadelphia Eagles. Missing out on the Nick Foles free agency campaign and still uncertain with Michael Vick, the former DeMarco Murray team is now rumored to be in danger of getting in the season with a wobbly quarterback situation.

At this point, though, the possibility of the Philadelphia Eagles signing a Geno Smith trade remains an NFL rumor. None of the parties involved have commented on the matter. However, fans feel that Geno Smith might just get his big break leading Sam Bradford and Carson Wentz next season.

"You've got to look at it all the same because you don't want to have a mental letdown," shared Todd Bowles of Geno Smith and the less reps the quarterback gets with the New York Jets. He added, "It's all the same for me. Every single rep counts. Every single minute you get in practice or in the game counts. You've always got to have that same mentality so that things don't change, no matter what the situation is."

Meanwhile, Geno Smith is trying to push the whole Ryan Fitzpatrick drama. The New York Jets backup pointed out that he works out in the same way he prepared as a starter in the past. He said, "You always prepare the same way. It's really no different. I'm just continuing to work hard."

What do you think? Should the New York Jets agree to a Geno Smith trade? Will the Philadelphia Eagles be better off with the backup of Ryan Fitzpatrick than either Carson Wentz or Sam Bradford?
