‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Season 4 Release Date and News with Ghost Rider, Aida, and What Else to Expect with Season 3 Recap

ABC saw a lot of potential of a series based in the same universe as the Avengers when it green-lit Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. While the Avengers might not be present, Agent Coulson is welcome, and his team of agents, some super and some "ordinary", have dealt with their share of metahuman espionage for three seasons.  Now, they are about to embark on Season 4, and this is what to expect of Season 4 of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 3 Recap

Season 3 had a lot of villainous action going on with Brett Dalton, who ended up being Ward in the Fall, but had gone full Hive in Ward's dead body by the spring.  There was also the plotline of Fitz and Simmons, with another planet getting involved, not to mention Powers Boothe as an already established shadowy figure from the first Avengers movie to Hydra leader Gideon Malick.

There was also this group of the Secret Warriors, and how Daisy had to take on her own Inhuman heritage and superpowers.  While we are on the subject of superpowers, the events revealed in Captain America: Civil War have been at least mentioned on the show, but haven't really altered the events of the show (yet).

Season 3 ended with a time-jump for a few months, where Daisy had left and Coulson is no longer the director. There is a lot in store in the next season.

Who you gonna call?  Ghost Rider!

IGN reports that ABC has released of its first official image of Gabriel Luna as Ghost Rider.  He is actually in costume as Ghost Rider's alter ego Robbie Reyes.  Yes, he is not Johnny Blaze, the one established in Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Believe it or not, Nicolas Cage was approached to play Ghost Rider yet again, according to Screen Crush.  He declined the role, but it would have been very interesting to see what would happen if he said yes.  Would this mean that the Ghost Rider movies would be Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Canon?

Robbie Reyes is actually the fourth to assume the Ghost Rider mantle, but it will be interesting to see where this goes.  It would appear that the MCU is getting into mystical areas, like with Doctor Strange and now Ghost Rider.

A Robot Joins the Team

A separate report from IGN reports that Mallory Jansen will be joining the cast as Aida, who is a robot.  Season 3 teased the idea of Life-Model Decoys (LMDs), and the idea has been mentioned jokingly in The Avengers by Tony Stark himself, so why not?

A New Team Leader?  Really?

There is been reported that Jason O'Mara will be the new team leader, which is odd.  The show really is based on Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg), who has been very well established as a fan-favorite in the MCU.  Will this mean that Coulson is out?

Will Hunter and Bobbi Return?

Bobbi was back in the field, and together, with Hunter, these two were ready to get a send-off for...nothing.  Yes, apparently, these two were supposed to be in a spinoff show known as Marvel's Most Wanted, which has been...cancelled.  Most of the time, when a character spins off into another show, and that spinoff is cancelled, it usually means that they return.  Perhaps Season 4 will have that action going on.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will return to ABC on Tuesday, September 20, and you will see how it will unfold.
