Russell Wilson, Ciara Expecting Baby, 'The Greatest Blessing of All,' Continue to Honor God With Marriage

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, have announced they are expecting their first baby after publicly committing to saving sex for marriage.

The 31-year-old singer took to Instagram to share her happy news with her followers earlier this week, posting a black-and-white photo of Wilson cradling her baby belly.

"On this special Birthday I received an abundance of lvoe from friends and family ... and I'm excited to Finally share one of the Greatest Gifts of All that God could give ... " she wrote, adding emojis that included a baby and a bottle.

Wilson later posted the same photo alongside the caption, "The Greatest Blessing of All. Forever Grateful. #BabyWilsonOnTheWay."

The couple, who married three months ago, made headlines after publicly vowing to build a relationship "Jesus' way."

In July, Wilson took to the stage at The Rock Church in San Diego, California and revealed that God told him to lead his now-wife in abstaining from sexual activity until marriage.

"I'll never forget: She was on tour, she was traveling, and I was looking at her in the mirror," Wilson said. "I was sitting in the dressing room, and she was getting ready to go, about 15 minutes before she went on stage. And she was sitting there, and God spoke to me and said, 'I need you to lead her.' And I was like, 'Really? Right now?'"

According to Wilson, God told him "to lead her." "So I told her right then and there, what would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table and just did it Jesus' way?"

He continued, "I said to her, and she completely agreed: 'Could we love each other without that?' If you can really love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody."

While Wilson's commitment to purity has been mocked by many in the secular media, the NFL star says he doesn't regret sharing so much of his personal life with the world and last year talked with ESPN about their relationship: "She's everything you could ever want, honestly. Funny thing is, I told somebody that that's the girl I wanted to be with before I ever met her. I told somebody, 'I'm probably going to end up with Ciara.'"

In turn, in an interview with Essence magazine last May, the "I Bet" singer recalled praying she would end up with a God-fearing man.

"I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time," Ciara told Essence Magazine as the May 2016 covergirl. "I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me. I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all."

She later told Page Six: "I feel very confident in the love that we have for each other, and only God knows where it's going to go. God knows everything that's to come in the future, and I think it's best to let him keep taking control of things. Life is sweet, and I'm very thankful for all the great things happening in my life. I'm very happy."

This is the 27-year-old Wilson's first child. Ciara has a 2-year-old son from a previous relationship with rapper Future.
