NFL Rumors: Seattle Seahawks to Sign Damontre Moore as Replacement for Michael Bennett

The Seattle Seahawks have reportedly signed Damontre Moore to serve as the replacement for Michael Bennett who is expected to undergo surgery due to his injury.

According to reports, the Seahawks have already started working out with Moore.

Bennett has been dealing with an injury to his knee since Seattle's Week 6 game against the Atlanta Falcons. In that match, Atlanta's right tackle Jake Matthews blocked Bennett that caused the latter's knee to bend awkwardly.

Although the cut block appeared questionable, no flag was thrown during the match.

Following the game, Bennett called out Mathews and called the block dirty.

"I mean, that's the second week someone tried to take me out, man," he said. "I don't know. To me it's a scary, (expletive) move. Honestly, I think if you dive at someone else's legs, you're a little (expletive)."

"If you are big in the NFL, you just line up and play - why you got to cut someone on the (expletive) play? I mean, I don't know. That (expletive) is just stupid to me," he added. "Why cut somebody when you can just line up and win? I don't know. I don't come off the ball jumping at offensive linemen's legs."

Bennett was still able to play with the Seahawks in the Week 7 game against the Arizona Cardinals, which interestingly, ended in a tie. However, he left the game with a feeling of discomfort in his knee.

On Monday, Seattle coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Bennett is scheduled to undergo surgery but did not provide a timeline of his possible return to the field.

But, since the Seahawks are preparing to play Moore, it seems Bennett is expected to miss a couple of weeks or even the entire year depending on how fast he can recover.

As for Moore, he officially joined the NFL in 2013 as the 81st overall draft pick of the New York Giants. He stayed with the team until 2015 when he was waived from the roster after getting into an argument with fellow defensive lineman Cullen Jenkins. He was released for violating team rules.
