Rumored Release Date

Officially, it has been said that the release date for the Switch is set for March with no specific date given yet. The official date would be announced on January during the company's January briefing. On top of the official date of the release, the company was set to reveal more details about the hybrid console including its price.

Laura Kate Dale, a video game writer who claims to have sources inside Nintendo said claims that the launch of the console is set for March 17. She made that claim on a tweet. But that date is for the PAL region which is made up of New Zealand, Australia and Europe. The United States belongs to the NTSC region together with Canada and the Middle East. If the claim is true, then the release date of the console for the United States could probably be March 12.

Dale revealed some information about the console's announcement video so people are paying attention to what she says.

The Price

Aside from the release date, people are also waiting for more information about the price of the Switch. People want to learn about the price of the console to know whether the device can compete with the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

A report states that the basic bundle of the unit would cost around $260. The initial expectation was that the console could cost between $300 to $350. It's also said that for $300 the unit can come as a bundle with Super Mario.

But there are others who are casting doubt about the rumored price. Redditors are claiming that $260 would be too good to be true for the new console. But if Nintendo does release the console at the rumored price, it can expect to get swarmed with demands for it.

Though the Switch's performance is sure to be hampered because of its portability and small size, people are still looking forward to it. The fact that it is battery reliant would mean that it must consume less power than one that is plugged, which means less features.
