Marvel's Iron Fist Featurette on Netflix: Madame Gao Spotted, Helps Build Anticipation For The Defenders

It was just a few days ago that yet another new trailer for the Iron Fist Netflix series surfaced, and here we are with a new featurette that will further whet the appetite of fans for Danny Rand’s TV screen debut. It is very interesting to see how all of the different series will tie up together, culminating in The Defenders, but for now, we will have to make do with bits and pieces, here and there. In the newest Iron Fist featurette, the Netflix and Marvel collaboration point out more bits of Danny Rand’s origin story, as well as one particular revelation that will get fans sitting up straight -- the appearance of Madame Gao.

It is understandable that with Danny Rand studying martial arts from a fictional Asian country, there would be antagonists as well of Asian descent in the storyline, but to see Madame Gao show up but for a few seconds, standing on a balcony with a face so grim even the Reaper would shy away from her? Classic. This is not the first time that Madame Gao made an appearance, as she debuted in the very first season of Daredevil. That first season saw Madame Gao introduced as an extremely influential as well as powerful lady who has her very own heroin trade which runs right out of Hell’s Kitchen -- illegally, of course. She is in cahoots together with Wilson Fisk aka The Kingpin, in addition to other unsavory characters in the vein of Vladimir and Anatoly Ranskahov, and Leland Owlsley.

This entire group is known as The Hand, a shady, criminal organization who seem to be able to evade many criminal charges in the eyes of the law. The Hand was made known to viewers in the second season of Daredevil itself.

Wai Ching Ho plays the role of Madame Gao, and in the featurette, it does seem that Iron Fist will come face to face with her. Who knows? Iron Fist might even go toe to toe in combat with some other members of The Hand, but all of this is just pure speculation until the series itself hits Netflix. Once the entire first season of Iron Fist is out and over, we can then shift our focus and attention toward The Defenders.

The Defenders will bring together a quartet of superheroes from the Marvel Netflix TV universe -- Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. All of them will work together as some kind of budget Avengers (since they do not have a demigod among them, and neither do they have the brilliance of Tony Stark), working to overcome a yet to be introduced villain. Both Netflix and Marvel had confirmed in the past that Sigourney Weaver will play the role of the main villain, we do not know who she will be. Definitely not the Queen Alien for sure!

Expect the first episode of Iron Fist to be released this coming March 17, and while waiting, you might as well catch the likes of Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones over on Netflix so that you are up to speed as to what’s going on.
