THE 2004 Gospel Fest ended on a high note last weekend with Awesome Worship on Saturday night at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium and One Awesome Day at the Farley Hill National Park.

Featured on Saturday night was the popular and energetic group ‘Shine the Light’, who gave a thrilling performance as they ministered in song with a number of their inspirational hits.

They did a piece called ‘Unfinished Task’ which reminded the crowd that they should do all they can to help one another along the way and leave nothing undone that is to be done in the name of Jesus.

‘How can I let him [Jesus] down’ was another number that was part of a melody that had the audience on their feet, giving thanks to God for all the wonderful things he has done, is doing and will do for those who put their trust in him. Another great ministry was done by Israel & New Breed from the US, who came on stage during the second half and encouraged the worshippers to continue to be thankful to Jesus and worship him in spirit and in truth, for he is a good God and is worthy to be praised.

Leader of the group Israel Houghton led a number of songs such as ‘He called me Friend’ and ‘Trading my sorrow’, that took the spirit-filled crowd to a higher level.

Other persons ministering at Awesome in Worship were the Gospel Fest Mass choir, Pastor Elector Pearson on the saxophone and others in dance ministry.

As the crowd gathered at the Farley Hill National Park, the awesome ministry continued with headliners, Papa San, Deitrick Haddon and Mr. Goddy. Goddy was supported by local performers Promise, Instruments of Prayze, Sister Marshall and others.

It is always a blessing to witness the powerful ministry of Sister Marshall in song, as she always captures both young and old with her various selections, which included ‘Walk Holy’, and her appearance on the hill was awesome once again.

‘God still hears the sinner’s prayer’ was one of the pieces that rang out through the massive crowd as Deitrick Haddon sang with conviction and experience that God is never too busy to hear a sinner call for help.

The man of the moment, however, was none other than Papa San, who had the crowd calling for more and more as he performed many of his songs.
