2016 NBA Free Agency Rumors: GS Warriors Looking to Get Kevin Durant or Dirk Nowitzki?

After losing the 2016 NBA Finals series to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Golden State Warriors are looking to build up its roster in the hopes of winning the title back next season. And, according to rumors, this could include signing Kevin Durant or Dirk Nowitzki.

Aside from the Cavs, the Oklahoma City Thunder are also another rival of the Warriors. During the conference finals, OKC led the series 3-1 thanks to Durant. Even when the Thunder lost Game 7, they were still able to put up quite a fight with Durant scoring 27 points.

This is probably one of the main reasons why the Warriors would want to sign him. But, even though Durant can be picky when it comes to choosing a team, and despite the fact that he'll probably re-sign with OKC even a discounted salary, he probably won't be able to resist playing with the powerful lineup of the Warriors, which consists of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson, according to Bleacher Report.

With the Warriors' current setup, they have a good chance of making it to the finals next season. But, getting Durant on-board would make their chances of winning a championship even better.

But, Golden State might have a hard time getting Durant since he seems pretty happy in OKC.

"I'm doing this on Oklahoma City," he said according to ESPN. "I don't care about commercials, I don't really care about this s***, I just want to hoop. But this comes with it and I got all this being in Oklahoma City."

Of course, the Warriors might still have a backup plan just in case they don't get Durant. And, according to Yahoo! Sports, that plan could involve getting Nowitzki.

Like Durant, Nowitzki is a very powerful and reliable forward that could be a good addition to any NBA franchise. But, with the likes of Curry and Green surrounding him in Golden State, he could be an even greater asset.

Money is also not a problem for the Warriors if they want to go for either Durant or Nowitzki since the team can create generous cap space by releasing some of its other players such as Harrison Barnes or Andrew Bogut.
