HONG KONG- Over 1,200 young believers participated in a joint mobilization event organized by the Operation Mobilization Hong Kong (OMHK) and Hong Kong Campus Crusade for Christ (HKCCC), they were revived to carry the burden of cross-cultural missions in this century.

On Sat. April 1, "Missions 21.Youth Mobilization" was hosted by the Chung Chi College, Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) with the theme "Go Global, You can Fly!" Chung Chi College is the unique college in CUHK that is founded with Christian values and traditions. The gathering was being introduced as the climax and closing event of the college’s recent cultural festival, thus many students from different universities, such as the Hong Kong Baptist University and Lingnan University, were drawn to attention.

The afternoon session’s workshops are divided into two parts. For the first part, missionaries from international leading mission groups, including Wycliffe Bible Translators Hong Kong Council, Asian Outreach (Hong Kong), Federation of Evangelical Students (Hong Kong), OMHK and others, are invited to share their cross-cultural experiences with Mongolians, ethnic minorities in China and Southeast Asia, Muslims and grassroots.

Sister Ho from OMHK recounted her life in three South Asian countries- Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar- when she went as part of the short-term mission teams. In her Sri Lankan traditional costume, she said in the first nine months serving in a school in Sri Lanka, she was only allowed to take care of students. However, her silent servitude has touched the heart of the principal, she was later invited to teach English and biblical stories to the students every morning.

"Those who are sent to missions fields must have a strong character. However, how to avoid conflicts when stubborn people work together? Therefore God trains us and makes us learn humility," said Ho.

The climax of the gathering came at the evening when an open revival meeting was held. HKCCC’s music missions the Worshippers led the praise and worship with the founder of Breakthrough Hong Kong Dr. Philemon Choi as the keynote speaker. At the altar call, Choi quoted the message from Matthew 24 and Matthew 4; over 400 believers were touched and responded to God’s calling.

Coordinator of the event, OM Executive Director explained how so many organizations cooperate together to make the rewarding event, "All the mission organizations have the same vision, which is to see many young people willing to participate in missions." He added that the organizing committee and the mission organizations involved this time will continue to cooperate and offer training for the youths.

The director emphasized on the belief of the mobilization event, "To support both frontline and backup mission works, cross-cultural missions; to systematically train every young believer to engage in missions and to nurture young believers to become long-term missionaries through short-term missions."

The re-union of the mobilization event will be held on April 13. Training sessions for missions will also be carried out in May and June.
