Sony Mobile is currently testing the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 smartphones, fueling speculations that the latest Android software will be available to Sony Xperia Az and Z2 this year. Other Xperia Z devices are also expected to run in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, reported IBTimes.

The web site cited a report from Chilean wireless service provider Wayerless showing a video of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop being tested on Sony Xperia Z3 build versions 23.4.0.279 and Xperia Z2, which uses the firmware build template 23.4.A.0.XXX.

The video in Wayerless showed Android 5.1.1 Lollipop containing some changes on the user interface, including applied Google Material Design that can be seen on the Settings menu, as well as improvements in the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controls. On the notifications toggle, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop allows mobile phone users to choose from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth devices instead of going to the Settings menu.

Mobile phone users of Sony Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition can also test the Android 5.1 Lollipop as the software is now available for download and installation. Recenly, Google has released the firmware to Xperia Z Ultra GPE C6806 via Over-the-Air process with build number LMY47D.

Australian mobile phone carrier Telstra said that the 5.1 Lollipop for Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1 Compact on August 10 as testing is currently underway. The company also revealed that an update for Android 5.0 Lollipop for Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 Compact was already available since May 18.

To date, Sony has not released information on the exact launching of Android 5.1 Lollipop on Xperia Z3. However, there are speculations that Sony is planning to integrate Android 5.1 Lollipop to its flagship devices

Earlier, we reported that the Android 5.1 Lollipop will only be available on the HTC One M7. However, the unlocked version is being sold on sold on Google Play. The One M8 Google Play Edition is expected to be getting Android 5.1 Lollipop very soon. Other than those devices, all other HTC phones will still be on the original Android 5.0 Lollipop.

It was also learned that HTC is skipping forward with the Android 5.1 Lollipop. The operating system is definitely coming to the HTC One M8 and M7. There is no official announcement from HTC's U.S. office at this time.

However, a tweet from HTC UK suggests that Android 5.1 Lollipop will at least be coming to the HTC M8 this August. It is unclear when the older M7 model is getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop. There is no update on this issue but we will keep you posted as soon as information becomes available.
