Samsung is finally seeding the latest available version of Google's mobile OS, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, to the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 LTE. The device, released back in May 2014, is the largest tablet and one of the most high-end slates in the company's lineup.

However, the main caveat here is that the update is initially being distributed to owners of the tablet in Nordic countries such as Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. Samsung watchdog site SamMobile said that it will gradually make its way to other regions where the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 LTE was originally available. The update is a 1.3GB download and will bring the device's firmware directly to Android 5.1.1 from the default Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

The same Android OS version is also reported to be available to Sony's Xperia C3 and Xperia T2 Ultra Dual phablet, both released in 2014. The Sony-focused XperiaBlog.net revealed that both the single- (model number D2533) and dual-SIM (D2502) variants of the Xperia C3 are currently receiving the new software.

What is good about this Android 5.1.1 upgrade is that it is being sent out to almost all regions that the Xperia C3 and C3 Dual is sold in. The device was initially released running Android 4.4.2 and was then updated to version 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Sony is also rolling out the said OS to another non-flagship model, the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. The model is the dual-SIM variant of the 6-inch T2 Ultra mid-range phablet. While there is still no word on when it will arrive to the single-SIM version, it is most likely due to happen as the two models have nearly identical internal specifications.

For those who own a T2 Ultra Dual, they may expect to see an update alert appearing anytime now. The new OS will bring the device's build number to 19.4.A.0.182 from the previous 19.3.A.0.472 that came with the earlier Android 5.0.2 update.

While mainly a bug-fixing software release, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is expected to carry over more customization options such as camera improvements with improved auto-mode focus, silent modes, enhanced enterprise support, new alert system, and a fix for the Stagefright vulnerability.

In Sony's handsets, the OS will also usher in the device maker's "Xperia in Business" features as well as support for SmartWear, allowing Sony SmartWatch 3 owners to use the wearable device as a remote control camera shutter button.
