Android 5.1 Lollipop Release Date Update for Moto X, Moto G 1st and 2nd Gen, Moto E

Motorola is releasing the Android 5.1 Lollipop on the new Moto G 1st and 2nd Gen and Moto X 1st as Google unveiled its new Android M operating system, reported Tech Worm. Lenovo, which now owns Motorola, is also said to be pushing out updates of its Android Lollipop for its other smartphones, including the Moto E (2nd Generation) 4G/LTE version.

All the Motorola smartphones will receive their Android 4.1 Lollipop update from the KidKat version, except for Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen which was updated from Android 4.4 KitKat. The Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade features improved camera resolution and gibber screen for the Moto G 2nd Generation.

The new Android 5.1 Lollipop provides better system stability, improved RAM battery management, automatic fix on sudden app closures, Wi-Fi issues and sound concerns, as well as the standard bug fixes and security improvements.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade will be available over-the-air (OTA), and Motorola has advised owners of the Moto smartphones should regularly check their phones settings to see if an update is already available for update. It will be a smart choice if you keep your Wi-Fi open to download the Android update for your Moto handsets.

iDigital Times  advised owners of Moto X (1st, 2nd Gen), Moto G (1st, 2nd Gen) and Moto E (2nd Gen, 4G LTE) to charge up their handsets to check if their smartphones are eligible for Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA update. From Settings, go to About Devie => Sustem update => Check for updates.

The report also quoted David Schuster as confirming that Motorolla has been testing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and decided to skip the 5.0 version and instead roll out the Android 5.1 because it offers bug fixes and other enhancements.

Schuster said, "As some of you might know, we've been testing Lollipop 5.0.2 upgrades on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto G with 4G LTE (1st Gen) in several regions. In parallel we have started testing Lollipop 5.1 which was recently released by Google. Given the improvements in Lollipop 5.1, we have decided to move all efforts to upgrade these devices directly from KitKat to Lollipop 5.1."

Users of the on Moto X (1st Gen), Moto E (1st Gen) and Moto G with 4G LTE (1st Gen) will have native support for the Android 5.1 Lollipop versions that have more than one SIM card slots. From the Quick Settings functionality of the notification bar, users can join Wi-Fi networks and pair Bluetooth devices, said Latino Post.

It added that the Android 5.1 Lollipop update will roll out starting June 10, 2015 but other users will receive the notification at a alter date.
