Android 5.1 Lollipop has yet to reach many devices, despite the fact Google is starting to push out the newest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. In the sections below, we will look at the Android Lollipop update situation for the HTC One M7 and M8, and LG G3 and G2.

HTC One M8 to Get Android 5.1 (Albeit in Europe First)

In April, HTC UK tweeted that the HTC One M8 will receive Android 5.1 Lollipop in August 2015. However, the posting did not stipulate when or if U.S. consumers will be getting that upgrade.

So far, only the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition has gotten Android 5.1 Lollipop. Unfortunately, all other U.S. users are stuck on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

No More Android Updates for HTC One M7?

Geek Snack recently wrote that HTC is no longer supporting the older One M7 with Android updates. The publication cited company insiders as the source for this information.

If this report is true, that means thousands of HTC One M7 users will be stuck on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop in the foreseeable future.

LG G3, G2 Android 5.1 Lollipop ETA Uncertain

According to the latest report by GSMArena, LG's Greek division suggested that the G3 will be updated to Android M instead of Android 5.1 Lollipop. This information originated from the Greek-language publication TechValue. Of all the LG flagships, only the LG G4 has the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware installed right out of the box.

Both the LG G3 and G2 are still operating on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, despite the presence of bugs. Users have reported seeing unusually fast battery drain, app crashes, random reboots, and WiFi connectivity problems.  The Android 5.1 Lollipop fixes a number of these issues.

However, LG has remained mum regarding when the G3 and G2 will be getting that update. Also, Google is already applying the next Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to its own proprietary Nexus devices. This update is available with LG's G Flex 2 as well. That means two major LG devices have gotten newer Android updates, which leaves out the G3 and G2.

Consumers will also need to consider that it takes time for carriers to distribute any Android Lollipop update from LG. According to GottaBeMobile, U.S. wireless providers were the last companies to roll out the Android 5.0.2. Lollipop on the G3 and G2. The publication told users to expect either the Android 5.1 Lollipop or Android 5.1.1 Lollipop sometime in the future. In light of recent development however, this is starting to seem unlikely to happen.
