Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Sony Xperia Z2, Samsung Galaxy J5, J7, Blackberry Priv, and Asus ZenFone 2

Latest on Android Nougat roll out. It gets rather tricky figuring out just which particular smartphone model will be on the receiving end of the latest Android operating system version.

It's been nine months since Google released Android Marshmallow (Android M) to different devices across the globe. Now, smartphones from Sony, Samsung, Blackberry and Asus will finally get their share of Marshmallow firmware. Here's the latest round-up of update about Android M roll out.

Samsung Galaxy J5 users are now getting the Android M firmware. The roll out started in India, and it is now expanding in different parts of the globe. Galaxy J5 users should wait to receive Over-The-Air (OTA) notification to start installing the update, which weighs 874.17 MB and has build number J500FXXU1BPF4, as per a report from Tech Times.

For Samsung Galaxy J7, its Android M firmware is now rolling out in Russia and many parts of the globe. Interestingly, Galaxy J7 devices that were released in South Korea became available with Android M right out of the box.

Blackberry Priv owners under T-Mobile have started receiving their Marshmallow software update on June 13. The Priv is the first BlackBerry smartphone that does not have the company's BlackBerry OS or BlackBerry 10. It became available with pre-installed Android 5.1 Lollipop. Blackberry's blog post said the update weighs 1.3 GB, so users have to make sure that they are connected to a strong Wi-Fi network to avoid unnecessary installation problems.

Furthermore, owners of Asus ZenFone 2 with serial number ZE551ML and ZE550ML are finally receiving their Android Marshmallow update after much waiting. Both models of the handset were released back in March 2015.

For users who have not yet reached the OTA update, they are advised to check their devices manually by going to Settings > About phone > System updates > Check For Update. Take note the update is rolling out gradually so some users might receive it in the next couple of weeks.

Android Marshmallow features innovative applications, improved apps permissions, and revamped user interface. Some of its new applications are Doze mode and Google Now on Tap. Also, Android M provides fingerprint sensors for safer online shopping.

Meanwhile, some gadget lovers are now looking forward to Android M's successor - Android N. Latest reports say the new software will have enhanced Doze mode and VR headset compatibility. As of now, the Android N is in development stages and might become available later this year.
