A number of owners of the new Moto X Style and last year's Moto X handsets may already start seeing notifications alerting them that the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow is ready to install. The over-the-air (OTA) Android upgrade is currently being rolled out in Brazil and India. David Schuster, senior director of software product management at Motorola Mobility, also confirmed that a full deployment to other regions will continue in phases over the next few weeks.

Motorola said that users will not be able to "pull" or manually download and install the firmware to their units. However, the company mentioned that they will get a notification whenever Android 6.0 is available for installation.

Many Motorola fans may already know that the Moto X Style is the international version of the Moto X Pure Edition recently launched in the United States. Both models have the same specifications so it may not be long before the Android OS arrive to the latter. Schuster did mention that the company has begun the approval process for the 2015 Moto X' Android 6.0 Marshmallow update and can be expected to get it in the succeeding weeks.

Aside from the standard features that the new OS will bring, the device maker will also carry over its own improvements to its handsets, according to its newly posted Android 6.0 Marshmallow changelog. As early as now, owners of the Moto X 2nd Gen and the Moto X Style in the said countries can enjoy the new Memory Manager that let them check their installed apps' memory usage. A DND (do not disturb) button will be added to the quick settings panel and volume controls will also be improved.

Aside from the Moto X 2014, Moto X Style, and the expected Moto X 2015 updates, Motorola recently confirmed that it will release the new OS to a handful of other devices soon. The list includes the Moto X (2nd gen, for Latin America, Europe and Asia editions), DROID Turbo, Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd gen), 2014 Moto Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, and last year's Nexus 6 handset.

Noticeably absent from the list is the original Moto E smartphone. The model's second generation, which is unveiled in February this year, is also excluded but it is widely expected to be upgraded to Marshmallow OS given its recent hardware and software specifications.
