Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Release Date for HTC One M9, M8 on Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and US Cellular

Android 6.0 Marshmallow (Android M) update landed on Google's Nexus devices October last year. After that, several phone manufacturers like Sony, LG and Motorola started to release Android M upgrades in their respective devices. Now, latest reports say the new operating system has arrived in HTC One M9 and One M8.

Here's everything you need to know about Android Marshmallow update on HTC devices.

On January 19, HTC announced via Twitter that Android M update to One M8 is now available for their UK subscribers. The tweet was posted two weeks ago, so it is expected UK HTC One M8 users are now enjoying their new system upgrade.

Furthermore, M8 and M8HK update is also now available, according to a recent tweet from Mo Versi, HTC's Vice president for Product Management.

For One M9 owners, on other hand, HTC said the upgrade is now slowly rolling out to UK, as reports from TechnoBuffalo. The new system will be available to unlocked One M9 handsets first -- those who are not connected to any mobile carriers. Locked models can expect to receive the upgrade after their respective carriers approved it.

In the same article from TechnoBuffalo, it says One M9 owners in other countries should expect to get the Anrdoid M system sometime this year.

Tech Radar published that owners of unlocked HTC One M9 from the United States should have the update by now.  Versi also revealed HTC One M9 owners on Canadian networks Sasktel, Rogers, Wind and Videotron will get the new system very soon.

HTC has also confirmed they will upgrade their other devices like HTC One E9, HTC Desire 820, HTC One ME HTC One M9+, HTC One E8, HTC Desire 826, HTC One M8 EYE, HTC Butterfly 3, and HTC Desire 816.

The release of the software is gradual, so some users will have to wait for a few hours or a day before the update notification appears on their devices. It is also advisable for users to check their devices if it is now ready for updates by going through Settings> About Phone> System Update.

The latest operating system from Google gives bunch of new features for users. Android 6.0 Marshmallow boasts new app permissions system, Doze, Google Now on Tap, Improved battery life and stability.

Android Marshmallow received 8.5/10 score from a review published in The Verge. The reviewer praised the system's great app launcher, security system and Google's new logo.
