Android 6.0 Marshmallow may be coming soon to LG's lineup of devices, now that Google is rolling out its newest firmware update to the Nexus series. Still, LG users will need to wait patiently for release date details. Happily, the G3 and G4 may be receiving Android Marshmallow - according to the recent update on the T-Mobile site. Sadly, the same cannot be said of the older LG G2, which is ancient by mobile device standards.

LG has apparently skipped over Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and is more than likely to release Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming months. The South Korean firm has remained mum on details regarding a possible timetable.

Even so, T-Mobile has already updated the LG G3 and G4 on its list of devices that will receive Marshmallow. The U.S.-based carrier is currently awaiting developments from LG.

As of now, there is no word regarding whether the LG G2 will receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This has not discouraged the rumor mill from generating some form of gossip.

GSMarena reported on an alleged leak from Hungary that claimed LG is benchmarking Android 6.0 on the G2. The validity of this information cannot be confirmed at the moment, and should be taken with a healthy grain of salt. In July, the same publication claimed that the LG G2 would receive Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. This prediction never panned out.

LG Skipping Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Entirely

Unlike its competitors, LG has been relatively slow in pushing out updates.

For instance, both the LG G4 and G3 are still on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The LG G2's latest update is Android 5.0 Lollipop. Despite rumors to the contrary, all three smartphones never got the latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. Hopefully, LG will not repeat the same thing with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Amongst chances that Android Marshmallow brings include improvements to file sharing operation and photo-taking. Also, a number of bugs from previous Android updates will be addressed.
