Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update Release Date for Moto X 1st, 2nd, 3rd Generation; Moto G 2014, 2015, Moto E on Sprint, Verizon

Latest news about Android Marshmallow update on Motorola Devices

The Android Marshmallow was released last year, and some Android phone users already got their upgrade. So, Motorola device owners are now asking about the release date of the new firmware to their devices. Here's the latest news about Android Marshmallow roll out to Motorola gadgets.

Motorola's VP for product development David Schuster announced on Google+ that the Moto X (2014) and Moto X Pure Edition are going to have the Android Marshmallow in the next couple of weeks.  Users of Moto X (2014) and Moto X Pure Edition in Brazil and India are set to get the update first. After that, the software will be released gradually worldwide.

Schuster also said that the latest operating system from Google would be released on Verizon, Sprint, and USC devices.

There are reports that Moto X Play users in Brazil are beginning to receive the Marshmallow firmware. Also, multiple users from India are starting to see the update on their devices.

Android Pit published a list of Motorola phones that are in line for the update. However, take note that the list and schedule for the rollouts are subject to change.

Some of the devices that are marked as "Confirmed" are Moto X Play, Moto X Style, Moto G (2015), Moto G (2014), Moto G (2014) LTE, and the Moto E (2015).  The Moto E will only have an update in selected regions. 

There also devices on the list that aren't marked at all which probably means they won't get the update very soon. Those devices are the Moto X (2013), Moto G (2013), and Moto G (2013) LTE. 

It is important to take note that after Google develops a new version of Android, smartphone manufacturers and mobile carriers must test it first before they release it to different mobile devices worldwide. Also, the upgrade usually starts in the latest devices, and then it will slowly roll down to older ones.  

In the case of Motorola, devices that was released in 2013 might not have the Android Marshmallow.

In related news, Schuster posted on Google+ that they have started TestDrive of Marshmallow update on Moto Maxx in Brazil. The post was almost a month ago, so the update must be rolling out now.
