For many handset users who don't own an LG or a Nexus device, waiting for the Android Marshmallow 6.0 update seems like a tedious waiting game. But those who are patient enough to keep it cool know all good things come to those who wait.

Know Your Mobile reports that Sony will be allowing up to 10,000 Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact owners to cut to the chase and upgrade to Marshmallow now.

There is one catch: users must join the manufacturer's test program "Concept For Android: Marshmallow." Users must sign-up via Sony's official application. Those who are chosen will be immediately notified during this period.

The entry on Sony's blog further mentions that if you're an Xperia Z3 or Xperia Z3 Compact user in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, United Kingdom, Ireland or Germany, the first thing to do is to look at the "Concept Sign-up" app to register. Don't forget to read full details, terms and conditions.

In July, Sony's Concept for Android, was launched as a beta initiative that would let Xperia users to try out concept software builds for Xperia handsets. The results were quite satisfactory, which prompted the tech giant to initiate "Sony's Concept for Android: Marshmallow" edition.

Even though the beta program was limited to a certain region in Europe, the program enabled Sony to build and road test and experience that involved "prolonged battery life, smooth and fast performance, sleek user interface, Sony apps and experiences and frequent, timely updates."

Meanwhile, in a recent Gospel Herald post, only Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact users who had registered for beta testing received the company's concept build of Marshmallow in the week beginning on October 19th.

Currently, the build is receiving its first OTA update.  This update will be rolled out gradually, so there will be some waiting if you're involved in the testing.
