Google's latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS has yet to become available to many non-Nexus devices, but companies such as Motorola, Samsung and Sony have all announced plans to offer via their range of recent handsets. In Motorola's case, 2015 models such as the Moto X Pure (3rd gen), Moto X Style (3rd gen), Moto X Play, and Moto G (3rd gen) are all scheduled to receive Marshmallow updates, according to an official blog post from Motorola.

Released last month, the Android 6.0 OS mainly focuses on improving the overall user experience from the last-generation Android 5.0 Lollipop. As of now, Marshmallow is only being offered by Google's co-branded Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, manufactured by LG and Huawei, respectively. It also has been running on some models, such as the LG G4 and the new HTC One A9, which is the only non-Nexus model to offer it out of the box.  

Aside from the 2015 devices mentioned above, the Lenovo-owned company also listed several 2014 models slated to get the new OS. Those include the Moto X Pure (2nd gen, US edition), Moto X (2nd gen, Latin America, Europe and Asia editions), Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE (2nd gen), DROID Turbo, 2014 Moto MAXX, 2014 Moto Turbo, and last year's Nexus 6.

The actual over-the-air rollout dates were not revealed, but the company said that it will "work fast, but we won't push the upgrades out until we know they're ready." Motorola advises users to check regularly their official blog to see if there are updates to the Marshmallow schedule.

It is worth pointing out that the first generation of the Moto E is absent from the list, along with the original Moto X and Moto G. The second generation Moto E, launched in February this year, is also excluded but it is widely believed that it will be added soon.

Speaking of the Moto G, Android Headlines reports that Motorola has conducted an Android M soak test for the model's 2015 edition. The site explained that soak tests are done by the company to test new software. Such tests usually indicate that a new OS version is ready to be distributed.

When Android Marshmallow arrives on Motorola handsets, it will bring the "Do not disturb" option under the "Sound and notification" settings to ensure that users are not interrupted if they do not want to. The company said that it is the same as their Moto Assist feature and as such, they will be removing the latter as part of Android 6.0 update. Other features that will be retired are the Motorola Migrate and Google Chrome extension integrated into Motorola Connect.
