Android 7.0 Nougat Release Date for Huawei P9, HTC Nexus 9, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Other HTC Devices

After Google announced the official name of Android 7, the discussion shifts to which smartphones will get the software first. As we head into the third quarter of the year, the launching of fully functional Android Nougat is not terribly far off.

Here's everything you need to know about Android Nougat release date for Huawei P9, Nexus 9, Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC devices.

The two upcoming HTC-made Nexus smartphones, codenamed M1 and S1, will reportedly have Android Nougat software. It is not surprising to know that these gadgets will get the software, because Nexus devices are always first in line for any Android update.

It is rumored M1 and S1 will be called HTC Sailfish and HTC Marlin respectively once they become available. Tech Radar reported both devices will be released on September 2016.

For Nexus 9 owners in Canada, Canadian Mobile network Rogers hints Android Nougat will be released in the country sooner rather than later. In the company's official website, it says Nougat is "coming soon" to Nexus 9.

Meanwhile, for Samsung devices, several tech websites claim the South Korean phone maker is now testing the Android Nougat to make it compatible to Galaxy devices.

As always, Samsung's latest devices will get the firmware first. So Galaxy S7 users should expect to receive an OTA notification very soon. In addition, the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 7, which will be launched on August, may also get the Nougat firmware.

For Huawei P9, a beta version of Nougat is now available for download. Developers at XDA have found the source of the leaked software. They also a posted download link so Huawei P9 users can install Android Nougat.

Interested users can download the OTA update for Huawei P9 here. Take note that this build is not the final software, so expect to encounter some bugs and occasional errors. In addition, the final software may look differently from this beta build. The official Android Nougat rollout for Huawei P9 may start in the next couple of months.

Yahoo News reported Google's upcoming software will feature the split-screen mode, which allows users to open two applications simultaneously. It will also introduce enhanced security features, updated notifications and improved battery saving app. In addition, the latest version of Android will support Daydream, Google's new virtual reality platform.
