Unlocked HTC 10 is finally getting an Android 7.0 Nougat update. The latest mobile operating system of Google is now rolling out for those in the US. The announcement was made on HTC's official Twitter account in time for Thanksgiving and the holiday season.

HTC's Product Management VP has also confirmed the said news in a tweet. According to CNET, those with the unlocked version of HTC 10 will have the chance to upgrade their OS to Nougat. It is not yet revealed when HTC will make this update available to those outside the US.

Back in August, the company had already mentioned that it would be rolling out this update to its HTC 10 devices. The previous report this month said that it would arrive in December. This is after an HTC 10 was apparently seen running the Nougat OS. Now, it seems that HTC will release the OS update to HTC devices worldwide next month. On the other hand, the One M9 and One A9 are expected to receive the Nougat update early next year.

Google's mobile operating system has not rolled out yet to many devices. It was released along with the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. Among its features include the Google Assistant, Instant Apps, new notification design, multi-window support and improved quick settings, according to Android Police. The new Google flagship devices have also received another recent update to those in Canada. The two added features are the "double tap" and "raise-to-wake" functions. The latter is akin to what Apple had introduced to the iOS 10.

The recently unveiled HTC 10 Evo is one of the other smartphones that runs on Nougat. It has the privilege to be the first HTC phone to get the operating system. LG's V20 and G5 are now also running on Android 7.0. As for Samsung, there's already a beta program for the Galaxy S7 phones.

The HTC 10 was released back in May. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 4GB of RAM and 32 up to 64GB of internal storage. The 5.2-inch phone made of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has a display of 1,440 x 2,560 resolution. It also has a 12MP rear camera that enables a 4K video recording and a 5MP front camera. If you are interested, you can purchase an HTC 10 for $200 less than its original price. It is now up for sale on HTC's site until Nov. 29, according to Tech Times.
