It is always nice to have a smartphone or a device that runs on the latest version of the operating system, as it will allow you to enjoy the latest in terms of features and functions. In the world of Android-powered devices, it would be the Android 7.0 Nougat that gets the job done, and while Google-powered devices are normally the first ones to run the latest version of Android, the rest of the world will simply need to wait. Sometimes, the wait depends on the smartphone manufacturer, at other times, it would be the mobile carrier who needs to get the work done. Well, where Huawei is concerned, then here is the latest bit of news concerning the availability of the Android 7.0 Nougat update for its range of smartphones.

Being the third largest smartphone manufacturer around the world right now, no doubt Huawei has a slew of device that they will be selling this year. Having shifted a whopping 109 million smartphones last year, they surpassed the 100 million smartphones sold mark in October this year, which means they might smash the 2015 record before this year comes to a close. Of course, with Huawei also diversifying their product portfolio this year, it would be imperative that they make sure their hardware offerings are backed up by the latest software as well.

With the Huawei Mate 9 being their latest flagship phablet, it ships with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box to help you get started with the latest Android features and functions without having to wait for an update. However, there are slightly older Huawei devices that would definitely appreciate the presence of Android 7.0 Nougat underneath the hood, alongside Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 that runs on top of Android, of course. The handsets that have been identified to feature EMUI 5.0 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat in due time would be the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, Huawei P9 Lite, Huawei Nova and Huawei Nova Plus.

Of course, we would also not rule out the possibility of Huawei actually expanding the Android 7.0 Nougat update list with even older handsets, but whatever it is, if you happen to own any of the devices mentioned above, then they are guaranteed to have the Android 7.0 Nougat update in due time, although no exact release date has been detailed just yet.

It does seem as though the Huawei Mate 8 and the Huawei P9 will be first off the blocks to obtain a stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat some time in Q1 2017. After all, the beta build for the two smartphones mentioned are already available and have been since the past two months, so chances are they are simply polishing up the final build. It would be great if an exact timeframe for the release of the Android 7.0 Nougat update could be revealed, but at the very least, there is confirmation that the operating system update is well on its way. Patience is a virtue then, in this case.
