If you own a relatively new Android-powered device, chances are you would wonder just when will your device (which most probably runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow) eventually receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update? Samsung device owners might want to look at the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2 as the next two devices which are being lined up to enjoy the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Word on the street has it that the development team at Samsung is currently working on the firmware update for the Galaxy Note that does not spontaneously combust, as well as a decent tablet.

According to SamMobile, it seems that the Android 7.0 Nougat software update is currently in development for the still impressive Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2. It must be noted that both of these devices happen to be still stuck in Android 6.0 Marshmallow territory, and surely the latest version of Android released for both of them will keep owners of said devices happy. SamMobile further reiterated, "We can now confirm that Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy Tab S2 is being developed as well." Now that is surely some confident talk going on.

There was no mention on the source of where this information came from, and it sure does sound realistic. After all, the South Korean conglomerate is currently working on Android 7.0 Nougat for the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge and Samsung Galaxy S6 smartphones, which are previous generation devices that were released in the same year as that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, so it says a whole lot.

As for the current flagship models, the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 smartphones are already part of the Galaxy Beta Program, where the respective device owners in select regions are able to give the firmware's beta version a whirl after registration, of course. It remains to be seen as to whether the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and Galaxy Note 5 will eventually make up part of the beta programs.

Not only that, surely folks are not only interested in the what, but also the when. As for the exact date or general time frame where the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Tab S2 will pick up the Android 7.0 Nougat update, that remains to be seen. Despite being in the development process, this is no guarantee that users will be able to enjoy the update sooner rather than later. It would not be surprising if Samsung ends up taking a few more months before releasing the official Android 7.0 Nougat update for respective devices.

Having said that, a December release for the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Galaxy Tab S2 and the Galaxy Note 5 would be a pretty optimistic view, as we have not seen any official Nougat announcement for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge devices yet -- flagship devices that deserve priority treatment in the larger scheme of things. Perhaps it would be better to err on the side of caution and look to a Q1 2017 release date instead.
