Android 7.1.2 Nougat is finally here, and you can be sure that Google’s very own set of devices are the ones that will pick up this particular version of the update first. After all, this is but the official promise by the folks over at Google, and it has already come true. However, there are bound to be fallen comrades by the side along the way with each release of the Android mobile operating system, and the same holds true this time as well. The Nexus 6 as well as the Nexus 9 are not meant to be able to gain any further updates, but from what we do know and have observed so far, both the Nexus 6 and 9 will still receive unofficial support.

There were whispers earlier on that Google had begun to introduce Android 7.1.2 Nougat to a handful of devices, and it is nice to see confirmation of such rumors. Not only are the factory images available online, the OTA (Over The Air) images are also made available -- how neat is that? In other words, the OTA images allow you to flash it yourself, assuming you could not be bothered to play the waiting game for the staged rollout.

Which devices support Android 7.1.2 Nougat?
Just so that you do not end up confused, here is a quick and easy reference of the list of devices that will offer support for Android 7.1.2 Nougat. They read like a list of usual suspects, barring a couple of regulars -- and those two would be none other than the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. Of course, this list is meant for Google’s very own collection of devices only, and are not meant to include a myriad of other Android-powered devices.

The supported devices for Android 7.1.2 Nougat will include the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel, Pixel XL, and Pixel C. Well, what about the Nexus 6 and 9? Tough luck actually, but at the very least, these two handsets would continue to receive security updates. Do bear in mind that Android 7.1.2 Nougat happens to be a maintenance update. A maintenance update is pretty simple, as it means that the number of new features and changes made are at a bare minimum, so do not expect anything groundbreaking or out of the ordinary this time around. However, some of the changes include the Nexus 5X picking up fingerprint gesture support, while the Pixel C would now be able to boast of the Pixel Launcher.

Where can I download Android 7.1.2 Nougat?
This is the clincher, and many people would be clamoring to get their hands on the OTA images as soon as possible. You will be able to obtain a download of the OTA images over here, while those who would prefer the factory images can get them here. These are legitimate links, but always make sure that you have the latest update for your security software on your computer and smartphone just in case. All of these are certainly in line with the Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta schedule!
