Android L Update for HTC One M8, M7 Delayed; No Release Dates for LG G3 or Sony Xperia

Android L

There are many Android users currently running KitKat (Android OS 4.4.4) on their devices, but long for the Lollipop (Android OS 5.0) update. Phone Arena reports that less than 0.1 percent of all Android devices are running Lollipop, and this is on a global scale.  There has been a lot of speculation that some devices, such as the HTC One M7, the HTC One M8, the LG G3, and Sony Xperia series, will be the first in line to receive the Lollipop update, but this update has yet to rollout entirely for these devices.

Unfortunately, for those owners of the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8, there will be a delay, again.  We previously reported on November 18 that users of the HTC One M7 and M8, which run a "purer" version of Android without HTC Sense customization, should receive the Lollipop update "in one week".  Well, that week has passed, and on November 24th, we reported it didn't arrive as promised

At the end of November, Phone Arena reported that these smartphones should get the technical nod for the update on Monday, the 1st of December. But Google has once again delayed the approval for the Lollipop builds for the HTC One M7 and M8, as Phone Arena reported today.  The reason for the delay was explained by HTC US Vice President of product management, Mo Versi, who has become a spokesperson on this update issue.  He states that the reason for the update has to do with the "current workload" of Google at this present time, but according to a recent tweet, he is "expecting it to come soon".

As for the LG G3, Android Pit reports that Sprint customers will receive an update, but it won't be Android 5.0.  No, it will be the update for the current Android 4.2.4 on most phones.  As for other carriers, there aren't any specific times for that Lollipop release date, though Phone Arena has reported that the LG G3 should receive the Android 5.0 update sometime in December.  This matches a similar report from Android Central saying that the Android L update would arrive on the LG G3 sometime in Q4 2014

Users of the Sony Xperia series, including the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z2, and Xperia Z1, should know that even though Sony promised a Lollipop update on the entire premium Z series, the company has not released any official OTA update on any of its devices.  According to Android Pit, early 2015 is the expected time frame for the Android 5.0 update, at least for the Xperia Z2 at least.
