Latest on Google Marshmallow roll out

Many devices from LG, Sony and Nexus already got their share of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Now, several gadgets from Samsung and HTC are set to get their taste of Marshmallow firmware.  Here's the latest round-up of update about Android M release date for Samsung and HTC devices.

After months of waiting, HTC One M8 and One M9 user under AT&T network will finally receive Android M. This information has been announced by HTC's VP of Product Management Mo Versi. He confirmed the roll out on his Twitter account.

Last month, we reported HTC One M9 users under T-Mobile and Verizon networks are scheduled to receive the upgrade. So, all owners of One M9 from the said U.S. mobile carriers should have the upgrade by now.

International Business Times says Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 from 2015 got the Android M update last month. Its predecessor Nvidia Shield Tablet from 2014 is starting to receive Android M OTA update.

For Samsung devices like Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note 5, their Android M update is rolling out.

U.S. carrier Sprint released the Marshmallow update to its Galaxy Note 4 models. The mobile carrier started the roll out in March. For other U.S. network operators such as Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, they have not yet announced their Android M roll out to Galaxy Note 4, which become available in 2014.

In the case of Galaxy Note 5, Sprint is also one of the few carriers in the United States that immediately offer the Android M upgrade. Also, Verizon released Marshmallow firmware to its Galaxy Note 5 models.

Take note that mobile carriers have to test out the new firmware before deploying it to their customers' phones. The test could take weeks, so users have to be patient.  Also, the OTA updates are released in phases, and it might take a couple of days before users got a notification for an update. Nevertheless, they can also check their devices manually for the update notification from the device's settings menu.

Android Marshmallow is the latest operating system from Google. It introduces the battery-saving Doze Mode, which helps to stretch the battery life of a device. The update also comes with Now on tap, which gives users more information about system's applications.
