One of the biggest problems with the rollout of the latest version of Android is there usually isn't any set time when it is set to arrive. This is the case of the latest version of Android, Android M (also known as Android 6.0 or Marshmallow).  The good news is that Motorola has made it known what devices will be receiving the upgrade, even though there isn't a set release date.  This is what is known about the Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Update for Motorola Moto X Series, G Series, E Series, Maxx  Series, Droid Turbo and Moto Turbo Series for carriers like Verizon, Sprint,  AT&T, T-Mobile, and US Cellular.

There haven't really been many changes in the rollout of Android Marshmallow for Motorola's Moto line, at least not much since last week when we last reported on it.  Tech Radar reports that the Moto X Pure Edition is currently getting the Android 6.0 update, but only with carriers like Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular.  As is common in most Android rollouts, some carriers will get it before others, so it is possible that both T-Mobile and AT&T might actually have it by now.

At the same time, the Lawyer Herald reports that the Moto G 2015 should be receiving its Android M upgrade in the coming weeks for AT&T and Sprint.  This includes not just the United States but India, Brazil, and some European countries.

There are also reports that the Moto X Style, Moto X Force, and the Moto X 2014 edition are receiving their Marshmallow upgrade in various places in the world.  Again, some carriers have not pushed the update through yet, but Pocket Lint reports that their personal experience has shown that the Moto X Force has received its over-the-air update.  There is also confirmation that the 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (the third generation) was in the approval process, so it may have received its update by now.

The same reports are being given for the Motorola X Play.  Android Central reports that this series has received its upgrade, and it "has given the device a much-needed performance boost".

Motorola has made it known what phones will be receiving the update, and they include:

  • 2015 Moto X Pure Edition (third-gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Style (third-gen)
  • 2015 Moto X Play
  • 2015 Moto G (third-gen)
  • 2014 Moto X Pure Edition in the US (second-gen)
  • 2014 Moto X in Latin America, Europe and Asia (second-gen)
  • 2014 Moto G and Moto G with 4G LTE2 (second-gen)
  • 2014 Moto Maxx
  • 2014 Moto Turbo

Not appearing on this list is the 4G version of the Moto E (2nd Generation), which has also been selected to receive the upgrade.  It was a disappointment for Moto E users, who were promised the latest version of Android for the next two years, to only have it be given out in Europe, Latin America, Canada, and Asia.
