It is a good sign that Sony announced the rollout for Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) for a few of their most recent products, and it is really only a matter of time before "older" (two years old) Android phones from Sony will begin to receive it.  Sony has been a little slow to get the upgrade in comparison to its competitors of Samsung, HTC, and LG, and sadly, there have been problems being reported with this Android 6.0 upgrade, which could be problematic for the popular Xperia Z3.  This is the latest news about Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, Z3 and Z2 on Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, and Verizon.

There is good news for users of the Xperia Z5 series (this includes the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z5 Premium), along with those who have the Xperia Z4 tablet and the Xperia Z3+.  Tech Radar reports that the Marshmallow update is rolling out for you, however, before you go to your "Settings" and "System Update" to download the Over the Air (OTA) update, there is something that you should know.

The Lawyer Herald reports that the release of Android Marshmallow was withdrawn on the Xperia Z5 in Canada due to a bug on the Play Store.  We reported on this particular bug last week, and how the International Business Times reports that many have complained about being unable to access the Google Play Store after updating.

For example, there have been various support forums saying that their phones have "crashed" with a pop-up window saying "Google Play Store has stopped".  Sony responded by suggesting their consumers go with a factory reset, and some users said that resolved the issue while others said that their problems continued.

Given the problem with this bug, how will affect the Android Marshmallow update to other Sony devices?  It is currently known that the Sony Xperia Z3, Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, Sony Experia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia C4 are slated to receive it, but this bug is a problem.

As far as the flagship from two years ago, the Z3, is concerned, there are already unlocked versions that have been updated.  It is believed that Z3 units could be updated in this quarter (April to June), but there has been no official statement from Sony on this regard.

However, you had better believe that Sony will not release that upgrade to United States Carriers like Verizon, US Cellular, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T unless they know for sure that this troublesome Google Play bug won't make an appearance.  As of last month, Sony released a beta version of Android 6.0 on the Z3 and other phones.
