Right now, there is a lot of hype about the Android N, which is the lastest version of the Android operating system, even though it hasn't been released to any devices.  The most current version of Android Version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) still hasn't come to some devices, which includes those for Sony.  This is the latest news on Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow and Android N Release Date for Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, Z3, and Z2 on Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, US Cellular, and Verizon. 

Generally, when I do a report about a new version of Android on a particular brand of devices, I can usually find out who has it after seeing three sources confirm it, and make certain that all carriers have it.  The issue with Sony is that the news about their products is pretty vague. 

For example, a recent report on Android Pit states that the current flagship from Sony, the Z5 (which include the plain Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Premium, and the Z5 Compact) is "confirmed" for Android 6.0.  I am going to assume that the rollout happened for the Z5 series around February 15, when Sony gave a tweet about the upgrade.  It could be that the actual rollout happened in March, but either way, it should be out now. 

This tweet also applies to the Z4 Tablet as well as the Z3 series.  Sony kind of had a hiccup as the Z3 to Z5 kind of skipped a number, so the Z3 is pretty much the flagship series from last year.  Oddly enough, the aforementioned Android Pit article states that the Xperia Z3, which includes the Z3 Dual and Z3 Compact, is labeled as "available", but the Z3 Tablet Compact is "confirmed".  By the way, the Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet apparently have that upgrade available. 

Other devices that are slated to receive the upgrade include these particular Sony products:

• Xperia M5
• Xperia C5 Ultra
• Xperia M4 Aqua
• Xperia C4

Sony seems to be very slow about getting Android Marshmallow onto their latest flagship phones, and for April 11, Sony will continue the Xperia Marshmallow preview into the summer.  Yes, that isn't really good, considering that most of the recent Android devices from HTC, Samsung, Motorola, and LG already have this upgrade.  It will more than likely take even longer to get the just-announced Android N onto Sony products. 

Therefore, the best and only advice one can give a Sony user of a newer device in the United States is to see if you can't get the OTA (Over The Air) download now.  Just go into the "Settings" and "System Update" to see if the upgrade is available.  The upgrade may not be available depending on your carrier like T-Mobile, Sprint, US Cellular, AT&T, and Verizon.  Feel free to leave a comment here saying whether or not you received your Marshmallow on your Sony device, as well as what carrier that you subscribe to.
