Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date Update For Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Z4 Tablet, Z3, and Z3 Compact with Verizon, AT&T, US Cellular, Sprint, and T-Mobile

The new version of Android, 6.0, also known as Android M or Marshmallow, was officially released two months ago from Google.  Of course, the company released it to their newest devices first, which is the Nexus series of smartphones and tablets.  From there, the tradition goes that the new version begins to slowly roll out to other Android devices, with the most newer ones receiving it first.  Here is what is known about the Android M Version 6.0 and 6.0.1 Marshmallow Release Date Sony Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Z4 Tablet, Z3, and Z3 Compact with carriers like Verizon, AT&T, US Cellular, Sprint, and T-Mobile.

According to Know Your Mobile, Sony has announced that up to 10,000 Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact owners can upgrade to Marshmallow by getting involved in the firm's test program, Concept For Android.  People have to sign-up through Sony's official application, and it could be that the places will be taken.  However, selected applicants will be in Europe, where this testing will be taking place.

In fact, the Xperia Blog states that Sony Mobile has released the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact handsets running the Concept for Android beta trial.  Yes, version 6.0.1 is actually starting to be released already, and the only change that is apparently happening to the OS on Xperia devices is that Sony has now removed the Icon pack found within the Home settings.  

It was interesting that Xperia Z3 is on some track to receive the Marshmallow.  The Z3 is one of the several devices on Sony's list to be upgraded.  The full list can be seen on Pocket-Lint.

Sadly, Sony has a reputation for doing these upgrades slowly, according to Tech Radar.  Granted, a lot of other smartphones like the ones from HTC, Samsung, LG, and others often receive their upgrade slowly, so it shouldn't be surprising if the rollout for the Z5 Series comes later rather than sooner.

By the way, Sony Xperia Z5 will be updated sometime in January, which includes just the Z5, the Z5 Compact, and Z5 Premium.  This simply makes sense as the Z5 is Sony's current flagship phone, and Android rollouts usually come to the most recent models.  This means that it will be coming to Z5, and then will be going to the Z4 tablet.  However, things are looking pretty good for the Z3 series. 

Of course, once the device receives the Android upgrade, it is still dependent on the carrier to provide a clean Over The Air (OTA) Update.  This means that U.S. Carriers like Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, T-Mobile, and AT&T could slow it down, but this remains to be seen.
