Samsung Gear Live, Moto 360 and LG G Google Android Wear Release Date

The new Android Wear operating system (OS) made a splash at the recent Google I/O conference, and is soon to be available for three smart-watches - the Samsung Gear Live, LG G, and Motorola's Moto 360.

Here is a rundown of the latest information regarding the release dates for these highly anticipated devices:

Samsung Gear Live

Last Wednesday, Google confirmed that the Samsung Gear Live was available for pre-order on Google Play. As promised, the $199 smart-watch soon showed up on Google Play and is available in Black. Information from the site also shows that the Samsung Gear Live is shipping out July 8 next week.

Just like the LG G and Moto 360, the Samsung Gear is powered by the latest Android Wear OS. An important thing to remember is that all three smart watches only function with mobile devices that have Android 4.3 or later installed.

From their wrists, smart-watch users can now conveniently issue verbal commands when setting appointments, browsing the internet, play music, access flight schedule information, look for directions when driving, or translate foreign-language text.

Users can also view the time, their location, and smartphone notifications through the watch face. These are just a few of the many features that come with smart watches integrating the Android Wear software.

LG G

Along with the Samsung Gear Live, the LG G is also available for pre-order on Google Play as announced at Google I/O. Selling at $229, this device comes in both black and gold, and will leave the warehouse on July 3.

The LG G has a slightly larger 1.65-inch screen with 280x280 resolution. In contrast, the Samsung Gear Live has a Super AMOLED screen with the greater resolution of 320x320, but in a smaller screen size of 1.63 inches.

For battery, the LG G has the larger 400 mAH battery while the Samsung Gear Live has the smaller 300 mAH. It is not clear, which device will have the longer battery life, although both manufacturers claim their devices have full-day usage capabilities.

Apart from these differences, both the LG G and the Samsung Gear Live share the similar square-shaped screen. Both smart-watches also run on the advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz with 512 MB RAM, as well as 4GB worth of internal memory.

Moto 360

Motorola has so far not announced when the Moto 360 will be available for pre-order yet along purchase. The device has not appeared on Google Play, and hints point to the Moto 360 being sold directly through Motorola's online store.

Information regarding the Moto 360 price, performance, and battery life also remains unknown. What is known is that the upcoming Motorola device will have a classic circular screen of 1.8 inches (46mm) in diameter.

Even so, there is speculation the device will be ready for purchase sometime later this summer.
