Recent leaks of an alleged Apple iPad Air 2 suggest that device will come with the Touch ID fingerprint security system.

On Wednesday, GSMarena posted images of a device that has the Touch ID fingerprint scanner embedded in its Home Button. The images purportedly from a Chinese case manufacturer associated with production of Apple's products.

It is not clear if the device shown is actually the iPad Air 2, despite speculation from the rumor mill. Also, GSM was quick to note that photo leaks of dummy units show the same thing.

Also in the news, it has been widely reported that the iPad Air 2 will not be coming with IGZO displays despite earlier rumors. IGZO displays are not for for their improved color accuracy, but requiring less power than previous displays.

This latest development was first reported by South Korean news site ET News, which said the reason for the cancellation was because of production issues. Instead, IGZO displays may be added to the next-generation iPad Air 3.

Weeks ago, it was rumored that Sharp Corporation's Kameyama No 1. LCD plant lacked the special equipment needed to produce IGZO displays. The Japanese company is responsible for manufacturing the displays found in many of Apple's products.

Not much is known about the successor to the current iPad Air, apart from rumors that it will come with the Touch ID fingerprint security feature. Quite possibly, the iPad Air 2 will come installed with Apple's newest A8 processor.

Regarding release dates, it is difficult to say when consumers will start seeing the iPad Air 2. Even so, there has been speculation that Apple will release the newest iPad Air in November -- the same time the original iPad Air was released.

Apple rarely deviates from their launch cycles, unless the device does not actually exist. If there is indeed an iPad Air 2, Apple fans may see the fabled device this coming fall.
