Each year, in early summer, Apple holds is Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), and it is when Apple's developers learn what Apple will be doing for the year.  The newest version of iOS is usually previewed at WWDC, and occasionally, some products get unveiled, and it is possible that the new Apple Watch and MacBooks will be unveiled.  If you want to know the dates of it, just ask Siri, because Apple prematurely leaked the official dates there.  Here is what we know about WWDC with the release date, rumors, and products that could be announced. 

I'll save you the effort of asking Siri and tell you that she would answer June 13 to June 17 in San Francisco, at the Moscone West convention center.  According to Fortune, the opening keynote and developer awards will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium which is about a mile away from the Moscone West, with the rest of the event being moved back to the Moscone West. 

So what will happen at the event?  There isn't really much information on that, but MacRumors states that some are saying that that Apple will change the name of its computer operating system from "OS X" to "macOS."  Generally, WWDC is really good at being the place where Apple announces the newest version of iOS, so you should expect an official iOS 10 unveiling. 

There are rumors that the Apple Watch 2 could be unveiled.  Like WWDC, not much is known about this new product.  It could be 20 to 40 percent thinner, have an improved battery life, GPS, and a FaceTime Camera. 

There are also rumors that the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro for 2016 will be announced at this event.  These particular Apple laptops have been rumored since 2015 holiday season, and there could be Skylake processors, better battery life, Thunderbolt 3, USB-C, and be thinner. 

In the past, if you wanted to go to the conference, you just bought them like you would any other event.  However, the popularity of the event has grown so much that it is difficult to get tickets.  The event first sold out in 2008, and in 2013, the tickets sold out in two minutes.  Apple has had to move to a lottery system in the past two years and will be using the same system for 2016. 

If you are a developer and want to attend, then you have to be registered members of Apple's Developer Program, which is something that you cannot do at the last minute.  There will be 350 WWDC scholarships offered to students and members of participating STEM organizations around the world.  There will be a ticket lottery that you can sign up for before Friday, April 22 at 1 PM ET.  The winners will be notified on Monday, April 25.
