Nichole Nordeman was recently honored with the prestigious ASCAP Songwriter Of The Year Award at the annual Christian Music Awards Banquet, which was held in Nashville. She shares the award with Bart Millard of Mercy Me. Nordeman, winner of seven GMA Dove Awards in 2003 and a two-time GMA Female Vocalist Of The Year, was also awarded two of ASCAP's Top Airplay Awards. ASCAP celebrated 'Holy' and 'Legacy', from Woven & Spun, as two of the 25 most performed ASCAP Christian songs of 2003. 'Holy' was the first single ever to reach 2,000 spins in one week on the Christian AC Charts, and one of Nordeman's three career #1's, having held at #1 on CRW AC for ten consecutive weeks and at #1 on R&R AC for eight straight weeks.
Nichole Nordeman, touted by Billboard Magazine as 'one of Christian music's premier singer/songwriters', responded to the shower of GMA's seven distinctive awards in 2003, saying, "It continues to be a strange experience to write songs with such a personal message to share and then be awarded for them. I am so humbled and grateful and reminded how God uses each of us."
