Assassin's Creed Syndicate on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be available on October 23, 2015 while the PC version's release date is set for autumn 2015. Like all previous Assassins' Creed titles, the game's story takes great liberties with portraying actual historical events.

The premise follows the saga of two playable assassins, twins Jacob and Evie Frye. Both are collaborating in the great struggle against templar forces in early Industrial Revolution-era London.

Jacob and Evie Frye

In a recently released video by Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed Syndicate's creative director Marc-Alexis Côté shared about the Jacob and Evie Frye characters.

"Jacob is really a charismatic brawler. He is gonna be the leader of London's criminal underworld. He's gonna create the gang that's called the Rooks, and that will be a great tool for the player as he moves through the city," Côté said in the interview.

Evie Frye, on the other hand, has an entirely different approach to doing things. "She's more stealthy, she's really-really intelligent and witty," Côté explained. "And, one of the things I like about these two characters is how they bounce off of each other."

Players can choose between two protagonist characters for the first time. This affects both the gameplay and types of weapons available.

For instance, Jacob's emphasis is on close-quarter combat. His favorite weapons-of-choice include the brass knuckle and deadly kukri knife, which is the fearsome weapon Gurkhas wield. He also walks around the city bearing a sword cane and modern revolver pistol.

Charles Dickens May Be a Bad Guy, and Charles Darwin's Son May Be a Templar

Those who pre-order the Assassin's Creed Syndicate will get the extra mission titled, The Darwin and Dickens Conspiracy. It is unclear which side both these historical figures take in the upcoming videogame.

According to IGN, Charles Dickens harbored sympathies for the Free Masons, which had ties to Templars. Hence, the historically-beloved author may turn out to be a villain who will be dispatched by the twins.

Charles Darwin, on the other hand, may be a friend of the Assassins. IGN speculates that Darwin may be killed, and his son wrongfully thinks the Assassin's are behind the murder. Seeking revenge, the son joins the Templar Order. Naturally, this information is hypothetical at best.

Historically, Dickens died in 1870, which is right around the time frame of Assassin's Creed Syndicate. In contrast, Charles Darwin died in 1882 - a full 14 years after events in the game.

Ubisoft's E3 2015 Presentation

More information regarding Assassin's Creed Syndicate may be featured at the upcoming E3 2015 conference, which starts on June 16-18 in Los Angeles.

Besides presenting the new Assassin's Creed installment, Ubisoft may showcase other games including The Division and Rainbow Six: Siege.
