Many assemblies against the deportation of migrant workers and Joseon Jok's (Korean Chinese, who lack Korean citizenship) were held in spots in the Tapgol Park in Jongno and in the Ansan station Plaza on the 9th of November. That day was the last holiday before the compulsory expulsion of migrant workers by the Ministry of Justice. Foreign workers who fail to register under the new work permit system until the 15th will be deported from the country.

At 3 p.m. on the 9th in the Tapgol Park in Jongno, 600 JoseonJoks and others concerned held a demonstration to protest against the deportation and to request the amendment of the law referring to Joseonjoks. After the protest, pastors and believers among them marched to the 5th street of Jongno.

In the Ansan station Plaza, simultaneously on the same day, organizations working for migrant workers demonstrated in union to oppose the expulsion and to demand that the government ensure foreign workers' legal stay.

Until now about 190,000 in 300,000 illegal migrant workers registered under the new work permit system. The remaining 110,000 are suspected to leave the country or hide themselves from the regulations.
