Attack on Titan's second season is now on its way to TV screens. Wit Studio already confirmed it through a list of shows that is scheduled to be aired this year. However, it is still unknown as to how many AoT episodes will be aired. Now, here's the latest roundup of update about Attack on Titan 2 update, airing date, and rumors.

The second season of Attack on Titan is included in the 2016 lineup of Wit Studio. In an MNR daily report, a Twitter user named @shonen_lord posted a screenshot on April 23 that reveals the lineup. The second instalment of AoT is there, but it did not say how many episodes will be aired. Interestingly, anime series "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" is on the list with 12 episodes to be aired this year.

Anime director Tetsuro Araki is currently working hard as he is attached to both Attack on Titan 2 and Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. In his interview with Japanese magazine BessatsuShonen, he said that "As I get through 'Koutejetsujou no Kabaneri's' production, I'm also continuing my work on the second season of 'Shingeki no Kyojin.'"

Attack on Titan, also called Shingeki no Kyojin in Japan, is expected to be aired this summer. However, its official premiere date is still not yet confirmed.

As for the sequel's plot, it is rumored that the political situation in Shiganshina will be explored further. According to Moviepilot, the main characters are expected to uncover a conspiracy that connects the government to the origins of the Titans. On the other hand, the battle against the Titans will be taken outside the walls of Shiganshina, as the characters will take their journey across the countryside.

Furthermore, other tech websites reported that the upcoming season will feature Levi's death. He is expected to sacrifice his own life for his squad mates' safety. There are also speculations that Commander Erwin Smith will investigate the Reiss family after he realizes that the king doesn't hold true power. The said family is known to have the ability to turn into Titans.

Season 2 of Attack on Titan is one of the most anticipated anime series. Its first season, which was aired in 2013, earned more than 1.5 million viewers on Cartoon Network. The new sequel is expected to be premiered on the Japanese Network MBS.
