After three years of waiting, Attack on Titan Season 2 finally has a release date. The first season of the show ended in 2013, and its success encouraged producers to continue the story of Eren and the nearly-unstoppable Titans. Here's what is currently known about Attack on Titan Season 2 air date, spoilers and rumors on the web.

The sequel of Attack on Titan will be aired in early 2017. The announcement was made during the Tokyo International Forum, as per the report from Crunchy Roll. Some of the voice actors of Attack on Titan were present during the event.

For those unaware, the release date of Attack on Titan Season 2 was supposed to be this year. However, director Tetsuro Araki and creator Hajime Isayama suspended the production temporarily to improve the show's storyline.

Now, Season 2 is really underway. In fact, promotional materials for the next season are being released. The official Japanese Twitter account of the anime also confirmed the airing of Season 2.

GameSpot reported Wit Studio returns for the second season of Attack on Titan. The studio worked on the first season of the show and season one of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. Also, former episode director Masashi Koizuka is now promoted to the show's overall director.

There are rumors that the first episode of Season 2 will show the death of Eren Jaeger and Armin Arlert. The two will die while fighting the Beast Titan and Colossus Titan. Armin and Eren are leaders of Survey Corps, so their death will surely have a huge impact on the story.

Furthermore, the true origin of the Titans might be revealed next season. Some say the giants came from Reiss family, which is an influential and wealthy clan living inside the Walls.

The first of the season of Attack on Titan earned more than 1.5 million viewers on Cartoon Network. The first season played 25 episodes. It is still not yet announced how long the second season will last. Nonetheless, it is good to know that one of the most-watched anime series on TV will be coming back.

While waiting for the next season, fans of the Japanese anime series should look forward to the release of next Attack on Titan video game. It is based on the first season of the show and players can use the 3D maneuver gear. The game will be released in August for all PlayStation platforms, PC, and Xbox One.
