Using “Touch a Billion” as their motto, Australia CVC Gospel Broadcasting Station shared its fruits from many years of hard-work at their annual gathering held on Nov. 23. CVS announced its successful entry into Beijing, and has begun training 12 local volunteers. Mike Edmiston, director of CVS Asia, counts on coordinating with the 2008 Olympics to broadcast the message of the Gospel to listeners in China.

CVS’s logo is a growing seedling, and the shadow of it is a cross. Edmiston shared the growth process of CVS, which began with nothing, but now possesses a fully-equipped broadcasting and production center on Sunshine Coast in Australia.

“It seemed impossible in our viewpoints, but everything is possible in God,” shared Edmiston.

Referring to the Parable of the Sower, Edmiston described that CVS ministry developed under God’s training. 50 people attended the gathering, and this reveals that more people are being influenced. Because of the passion and diligence of the Australian coworkers, they directly influenced the spiritual growth of the listeners.

Edmiston expressed that CVC stood out because of “Geographical Integration”: Using indigenous volunteers to preach the gospel to the natives. Because relationship is valued highly in Chinese culture, it’s important to hold on to this cultural distinction and use it to spread the gospel.

“CVC Broadcasting Station is like the air force, and the staffs who respond to the listeners are like the ground troops. Partnership of both parts are essential to more effectively spread the gospel to people.”

During the conference, the reporters asked Edmiston about his plans for broadcasting messages of the gospel at 2008 Beijing Olympics. Edmiston answered that he is counting on participating in reporting.

“Although we are incomparable to mega-broadcasting stations like ABC, CVC still counts on participating and reporting on the situation in real-time. At the Olympic, we shall interview Christian athletes on topics such as the attitudes as a Christian athlete towards issues such as prohibited drugs, facing success and failure, etc,.” said Edmiston.

Lastly, Edmiston briefly introduced CVC’s short-term plans. They will use YouTube to produce and upload or to provide downloading functions. In addition, CVC is prepared to use digital short-wave signals to broadcast to listeners in mainland China, which will significantly improve the quality of the program’s sound qualities.
