Now that the Star Wars Battlefront action shooter is finally out, video game developer EA DICE is now focused on creating additional content for the game as well as more free DLC. However, it seems that some members of the team already shifted their creative juices on Battlefield 5, the next installment of EA's popular first-person shooter video game series.

Dan Vanderlind, Development Director at DICE, recently tweeted: "Now that we've shipped Battlefront and a part of the team continues to work on it, I am moving on to another project, the next Battlefield."

A new iteration to the Battlefield series is usually released every two years; Battlefield 3 came in 2011 and Battlefield 4 in 2013. The developers took a little detour this year and unveiled Battlefield Hardline. That game, however, did not get superb reviews as it had a cops-and-robbers skin that was not received well by traditional Battlefield fans.

The game developer already dropped some clues on what fans can expect from Battlefield 5. Late last year, Blake Jorgensen, EA's Chief Financial Officer, shared that the next game in the franchise will revert to a more familiar military setting, as opposed to Battlefield Hardline where the focus is more on the urban scenario.

The information disclosed by Vanderlind also coincides with EA's announcement that it will launch an e-sports division that will be headed by Peter Moore.

"Today I am excited to announce that Peter Moore is moving into a new role as Executive Vice President and Chief Competition Officer for Electronic Arts, leading our new EA Competitive Gaming Division (CGD)," CEO Andrew Wilson said in a news release on EA's official website.

"As the latest step in our journey to put our players first, this group will enable global e-ports competitions in our biggest franchises including FIFA, Madden NFL, Battlefield and more," Wilson added.

While Vanderlind did not divulge any other details, fans already know that EA DICE intends to unveil Battlefield 5 during the holiday season of 2016. Moreover, despite saying that they do not intend to release new Battlefield version annually, EA did confirm that the upcoming refresh to the military shooter series is on its release schedule for next year.

Although Battlefield 5 will not be out for at least a year, DICE plans to occupy gamers in other ways. As Vanderlind pointed out, some of the developers are still working on Star Wars Battlefront. The have four expansion packs lined up for Battlefront that carry over new planets, game modes, and new characters.
